Prevalence of Bone and Joint Conditions

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 1.71 billion people worldwide have musculoskeletal conditions, including low back pain, neck pain, fractures, other injuries, osteoarthritis, amputation, and rheumatoid arthritis. People are affected by musculoskeletal conditions throughout the course of life from childhood to old age.

Musculoskeletal conditions range from sudden and short-lived injuries, such as fractures and sprains, to long-term conditions associated with ongoing disability or functioning limitations. These conditions can affect joints, bones, muscles, or multiple body areas or systems.
